I wanted to share with you my quick guide to getting more clients by getting referrals from past clients.
One way to get off the ground is to do a free job for a new client.
This is a great way to improve your skills, get experience and build out a real portfolio. Once you do one like this, you can leverage that client to get more clients.
It might seem like "free work" at the beginning, but the payoff is massive. I did one free job initially that got me 3 new paying clients.
Deliver Outstanding Work

Timing the Request

Ensure the client is satisfied with the work.
Initial Follow-Up
Send a personalized thank-you email.
Express gratitude for their business.
Ask for Feedback
Request a short testimonial.
Use open-ended questions:
"What did you enjoy most about working with us?"
"Is there anything we could improve?"
Make the Referral Request
Be concise and specific:
"Do you know anyone who could benefit from our services?"
"We’d love to help more businesses like yours. Can you refer us to others in your network?"
Offer an Incentive
Provide a referral bonus or discount on future services.
Clearly explain the benefit to them and the referee.
Stay Connected
Follow up periodically with updates or newsletters.
Keep the relationship warm without being pushy.
Provide Referral Materials
Supply them with an easy-to-forward email template.
Include links to your portfolio or case studies.
Hope you found this helpful,
